Gonzalez County Jail Museum

414 St Lawrence St, Gonzales, TX 78629

Hours Open:
Wednesday – Saturday, 10:30am – 3:30pm
Sunday: 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Docent-led tours are available during these hours that include architectural details & stories of the county’s early law enforcement days.

Built in 1885
The Snead & Company Ironworks of Kentucky was the iron & steel contractor at the 1887 Gonzales County Jail.
During the 1905 renovation of the Gonzales County Jail, the Southern Steel Company of San Antonio was hired to upgrade the steel doors and cell blocks using new welding techniques.
