Our mission is to conserve and preserve the historic Kendall County Historic Jail building as a home for heritage artifacts of Kendall County with a focus on law enforcement.
We envision the Kendall County Historic Jail as the center of Kendall County historic preservation and promotion. We strive to fulfill our mission through, but not limited to:
1) Conservation and preservation of the historic jail building and grounds.
2) Public educational forums and exhibits on the history of Kendall County, along with the story of local law enforcement and its ties to Texas law enforcement.
3) Displays and programs that convey to visitors and residents the contributions of the greater Kendall County area to Texas history.
Our board of directors and active volunteers are members of the Kendall County Community, just like you! We’re artists, city employees, business owners, and just your every-day friends and neighbors who share a real love for our community and its history. Care to join us? Since our founding in 2017, the FKCHJ have worked to raise funds for the Old Jail project. We’ve spent countless hours restoring the facility with our own hands, researching its history, and sourcing artifacts for its exhibits. It has been a true labor of love, which we are so excited to now share with you!
Your support is appreciated as we continue to make improvements to the Kendall County Historic Jail and source exhibits to showcase and share. Become a Friend of the KCHJ today!
